In our first meeting we also discussed some key events over the Autumn Term
Poppy Appeal
The school council were responsible for the selling of poppies in the playground before school and also for taking the poppies around to the classes each day. They were proud to help with raising money for the poppy appeal. In our whole school assembly we were reminded about what the poppy appeal is for and why we have remembrance day. On Remembrance day all classes observed 2 minute silence.
Anti-bullying Week & Odd Socks Day
The school council helped to promote anti-bullying week and odd socks day.
Children in Need
We had some different ideas to raise money for Children in Need - in the end we decided on mufti and a dance-a-thon.
The school council members from each year group chose some songs for their year group to dance along to. It was a lot of fun and even the teachers joined in with the dancing. The school council were really happy with how the day went. As a school we managed to raise £224 for Children in Need. Thank you to everyone who wore mufti, joined in with the dance-a-thon and donated to Children in Need.
Official opening of our dining hall
Over the summer our dining hall was decorated and now has a beautiful mural. The school council organised the official opening. Part of the opening included all the classes visiting the dining hall and completing a quiz which the school council had created - this was able to go ahead. Unfortunately, due to covid, we had to postpone the official opening but this will be rescheduled for later in the Spring term.
