Our Environment

The Creative Corner...

Here we can explore the use of different tools: scissors, paint brushes, staplers and so on. We can explore colour and texture by creating collages and junk models. We use paint, crayons, pencils, felt tip pens, pastels and much more!

Yoga Area

We love our yoga space for one or two. It gives us a space to stretch, calm and reconnect.

The Splash Zone...

Children can explore the movement of water - the splash zone is great for developing mathematical language and helping children to problem solve.

Picnic area and cosy corner...

Throughout the day we have access to fresh fruit, veg and milk in the snack area. Here we can sit on a cushion and relax as we enjoy a healthy snack to recharge, ready for more learning. We also have a lovely ready cosy corner in our snack area for children to enjoy their favourite books.

African Land Snails

We have two African land snails called Ziggy and Nicky!

They are so interesting and we love watching them grow.

Our Amazing World

We love learning about the world around us and use our map area to talk about different countries, cultures and festivals.

Provocations and small world...

Our provocations table will often be full of weird and wonderful things for the children to explore based on our current topics. This area encourages talk and social skills. It is great for promoting oracy in Foundation and really gets the children's imaginations going! The small world play and dressing up also works well with provocations and helps to improve imagination!

Literacy and Numeracy Shed...

Our outdoor Literacy and Number shed provide the children with the opportunity to bring their learning outside.

The Sand Area...

The Sand Area is very popular with the foundation children and link really well with our maths area. There are lots of opportunities for the children to compare and weigh using scales and sand. It also is a great opportunity for the children to use their imagination often playing dinosaur and cooking games.

The Home Area...

Our role play area is set up as the Foundation home. We can sit around the dining table, cook tasty meals in the pretend kitchen and relax in the lounge area. Using our imagination and our own home experiences in a real life context can help us to develop our communication and language skills.

The Reading Camp..

Our exciting reading tipis provide the children with outdoor reading experiences.

The Literacy Area...

Our reading and writing area is a cozy den where the children can snuggle up and enjoy a good book. We have a variety of writing equipment and paper for the children to explore mark making and we encourage children to write and read both independently and with the support of an adult or friend.

Physical Development...

An important area of learning in foundation is physical development. We learn how to control objects like balls, how to move our bodies with control and how to move across the adventure play trail. We sometimes have a go at learning games like hockey.

Planks and Tyres...

Can you build an assault course from tyres and planks?

Music Area...

In the Music corner we have access to a wide range of musical instruments, from the piano to maracas. Music helps us to develop important skills such as listening, phonological awareness, expressing emotion and creativity; which are the first stepping stones in becoming an effective learner.

The Mud Kitchen...

The mud kitchen is a great space for children to get creative. It supports social skills, oracy and mathematical development. We love making a mess!

The Maths Area...

The Maths area is a place for us to explore and investigate. We have a variety of resources the children can access independently to help enhance their mathematical understanding. We try to incorporate Maths into everything we do to ensure the children have a solid mathematical foundation.

The Gardening Area...

We love to watch things grow and help support bees and other local wildlife!

The Construction Shed...

The construction shed allows children the opportunity to explore different materials to build, balance and stack. It supports social skills, language development and fine motor control.

The Bug Hotel...

Enjoy exploring the creatures staying in our 5* hotel accommodation!

The Bikes and Scooters...

Improve balance and coordination on our bikes and scooters.

The Band Stand...

Get musical outside and explore the sounds of different objects!
