Year 2

Year 2
Year 2 is taught by Miss Glover,  Mrs Hill and Miss Simpson.
We are supported by Mrs Baker in 2KW, Mrs Johns in 2AG and Mrs Cory /Mrs Woods in 2JS.

Welcome to the summer term! We are very lucky to have Mrs Hill join us until the end of the year and we welcome Mrs Woods who will be working with 2JS.

In English. we will be exploring a range of writing and will complete a variety of short tasks. These will be based upon our topic of the Great Fire of London.

In Maths we are going to be revising all of the topics taught so far, as well as explaining how we solve problems though our reasoning tasks.

We will also be doing lots of work on reading skills as well as continuing with phonics for those children who need it.  Please can you make sure your child has their reading book in school each day.

For more information about our curriculum please have a look at the Year 2 Mood Board and our rolling programme.

The Dartmoor Zoo trip will take place on Tuesday, 22nd May. Please let your child's teacher know if you would like to come along.

Please make sure that your child has a PE kit in school everyday just in case the timetable changes. If the weather is good then we often go outside to do PE so a pair of plimsolls or trainers are essential.

Please make sure that your child has their reading book and reading record in school each day.

If you have any questions or would like to see your child's classroom then please pop in and see us.

Homework is given out on a Tuesday and needs to be returned to school the following Monday.  If your child has any problems completing the homework then please let us know.

Children will be provided with a list of spellings that will show spellings for this half term. This will happen at the beginning of each half term. Children will be quizzed on their weekly spellings on Friday. They will be able to achieve a spelling certificate for achieving 100% every week.

If your child requires medication to be taken during the day, please ensure a medical form is completed and handed into the school office. All medicines must be prescribed by a doctor.

Please check the Friday newsletter regularly for important dates.
