This weeks learning - W/b Monday 22nd February 2021


Oracy and Writing

  • Daily Phonics sessions - click link ( Please see your Dojo message to ensure you start on the right videos.
  • Daily Reading - please read stories at home with your child. You can find lots of stories online. We have access to the Oxford Reading Owl. Use your log in to access a range of books that relate to your child’s phonic level.
  • Reading pack – we have given each child copies of 12 reading books. Please read 2 of these a week. Reading a book multiple times is the best way to help your child develop pace, fluency and expression.
  • Listen to your child’s class teacher reading a story online - link will be posted on dojo weekly.
  • Please watch the weekly red word sessions and complete the attached red word activity.


What do we already know about dinosaurs?

What would we like to find out about dinosaurs?

Discuss the difference between non-fiction and fiction. Can you cut and stick the books into fiction/non-fiction?



  • Watch the writing session video (in the learning resources below).
  • Can you pick a dinosaur to draw and label the different parts of the dinosaur?


Theme - Dinosaurs

Maths this week is focussing on 2D shapes. Please watch one video per day and complete the challenges. See the learning resources folder below for videos and activities.

  • Spend 10 minutes, daily on Numbots


Complete at least one of these activities each week


UW – Can you look at the PowerPoints about dinosaurs? Talk through what you have discovered.  

T- Can you use your tablet or phone to take a 3D picture with a dinosaur? Use google 3D pictures.


EAD – Can you design a front cover for your new dinosaur fact file? Remember to include a picture, a title and your name.

  • Can you do 100 of something? 100 jumps? 100 skips?


  • In Early Years, playing, talking and taking turns are key elements of the curriculum. 
  • Spend time everyday making up stories whilst playing with your toys. Think about the following:
    • What are the characters called?
    • What happens to them and how are they feeling in the story? 
    • What do they say to each other?
