Oracy and Writing

  • Daily Phonics sessions - click link ( Please see your Dojo message to ensure you start on the right videos.
  • Daily Reading - please read stories at home with your child. You can find lots of stories online. We have access to the Oxford Reading Owl. Use your log in to access a range of books that relate to your child’s phonic level.
  • Reading pack – we have given each child copies of 12 reading books. Please read 2 of these a week. Reading a book multiple times is the best way to help your child develop pace, fluency and expression.
  • Listen to your child’s class teacher reading a story online - link will be posted on dojo weekly.
  • Complete the red word lesson and attached activity.

World Book Day – Dress up as your favourite book character!!

Complete two activities from the world book day activity grid.

Watch the story ‘Clean up’ – can you write a sentence about why we should keep the ocean plastic free. Can you make an anti-plastic pollution poster?


Talk about your favourite dinosaur. Why is it your favourite dinosaur. Look at the dinosaur oracy PowerPoint.


Talk about your favourite book – why is it your favourite book? Think about your favourite book character – why are they your favourite?

Can you choose a dinosaur and write a fact about it.


Write a sentence about why plastic is bad for the ocean.



Theme - dinosaurs

Maths this week is focussing on 3D shapes. Please watch one video per day and complete the challenges. See the learning resources folder below for videos and activities.

  • Spend 10 minutes, daily on Numbots

UW – Can you look at the PowerPoints about dinosaurs. Look at the job of an

palaeontologist. What do they do?



EAD: Can you make an anti-plastic in the ocean poster.

Draw/paint/make a picture of your favourite dinosaur.

  • In Early Years, playing, talking and taking turns are key elements of the curriculum. 
  • Spend time everyday making up stories whilst playing with your toys. Think about the following:
    • What are the characters called?
    • What happens to them and how are they feeling in the story? 
    • What do they say to each other?
