Hello, I am Mrs Organ the school SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator). I work in the pastoral team with Mrs O'Gorman (Family Liaison Officer).
At Salisbury Road, our mission is to create a highly inclusive, happy, courageous and stimulating learning environment in which ALL members of the school community can grow in self-esteem and develop to their full potential.
We are an inclusive school that embrace the fact that every child is unique and with different aspirations, therefore we appreciate that the educational needs of every child can vary. Even more so for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We believe the most important factor in raising educational outcomes, whatever a young person’s needs, is through high quality classroom teaching. Due to the inclusive systems available to all students at Salisbury Road, most students with additional needs will not require specialist SEN provision, as they are able to make progress whilst utilising whole school systems.
At all times, parents’ co-operation and involvement in their child’s development is highly valued and considered essential if children are to realise their full potential.
The documents in this section should help to answer any questions you may have about SEN at Salisbury Road Primary School. If you have any questions then please contact us, we are happy to help and are enthusiastic about providing support.
Our door is always open.

Hello, my name is Karen and I am the Learning Mentor for Salisbury Road Primary School I am looking forward to building good working relationships with Salisbury Road children and staff.
I have been a Learning Mentor for 8 years with Plymouth Excellence Cluster (PEC) working to remove barriers to learning such as self esteem, friendships, social skills, concentration and supporting transition between classes and Transition to Y7 in order to boost children's self esteem, happiness and to contribute to making an impact on the child's learning in class.
I am passionate about working with children and over 20 years I have held a variety of roles including being Teaching Assistants and working in Nurseries and Children Centres.
My interests include going to the Theatre, Cinema and spending time with friends and family. I am also passionate about reading in my spare time.
I am really looking forward to being Salisbury Road's Learning Mentor in this exciting new role and working for the LAT.
If I am working with your child, I would be very happy to meet with you so I can introduce myself and my role. I can be contacted via the school office or my email.

I am Ruth Granville-West and I was co-opted as a parent governor in July 2018. I am a mum of three children, all currently attending Salisbury Road Primary and I have a background in Primary School teaching. I believe that the staff at Salisbury Road Primary work extremely hard to ensure the children's learning and welfare are the best they can be and are always open to improvement. I am keen to work with and assist the staff at Salisbury Road Primary in maintaining this continual improvement.
