Welcome to Mrs Angliss' Class

Welcome back to a new school year!

What an exciting year ahead! Your final year at Salisbury Road Primary promises to be an exciting and memorable one.

We have lots to look forward to this term in our learning and most of our lessons will be linked to our History theme of World War 2.

Escot trip

On Tuesday 10th September, we will be travelling to Escot for our team building trip. We will be demonstrating our school values of courage, aspiration and unity as we complete new challenges and face fears. We are really looking forward to this...make sure you look out for the pictures!

Our topic this term is based around World War 2. We will be learning key events from this period of time. Our learning will start with how the war began then we will find out about allies and enemies, key battles, evacuation and the Plymouth Blitz.

We will have the opportunity to dress up as evacuees later in the term and will also have a VE party at the end of the term to celebrate the end of the war.

Our English lessons, art lessons, PE lessons, music lessons and DT lessons will link to our history topic which means we will be exploring this key event in history from all angles.

During our English lessons we will be learning new aspects of English grammar and punctuation - this will increase the level of our writing too. We will be writing poems, diary entries and explanation texts all linked to World War 2.

The class text we will be reading is called Goodnight Mister Tom. Our reading sessions will be based on this wonderful story and we will be fully immersing ourselves in what life would have been like during the war.

This term, our maths learning will be based around number. We will be exploring place value including numbers from hundredths to ten millions. Using our understanding of place value, we will also be ordering and comparing numbers.

We will also be studying the link between fractions, decimals and percentages and will deepen our understanding around these concepts using a variety of methods.

TT Rockstars

Please make sure you access the TT Rockstars website as often as you can - it is crucial that you know your times tables up to 12x12.

Every time you move up a level on the website, you will receive a raffle ticket and this will be entered into a prize draw at the end of each term. The more raffle tickets you have in the draw, the more likely you are to win!
